Community links

The School places great emphasis on the need to be outward looking, encouraging partnerships and developing community links for the benefit of our pupils as well as the local community.

Music – Our innovative partnership with the Watford School of Music has resulted in the spectacular  Clarendon Muse. The facility not only provides tuition for over 1,500 pupils per week it is also a music education hub for the local community, delivering a year-round programme of activities that encompass the musically led arts.

Local schools - We have active partnerships with a variety of local primary schools providing additional curriculum support for Key Stage 2 pupils. We also join with Watford Grammar School for Girls for a wide range of activities: music, drama, sport, some Sixth Form lessons and charitable work.

Specialist College Status - Our specialist College status in Science, Maths and Languages has further developed our partnership with local businesses, schools and community groups such as The University of the Third Age, Watford Muslim Community Project and the Watford Gujarati School.

Mencap – The School has been working closely with Watford Mencap to deliver an out of school sports programme for children with learning disabilities. The programme is run with pupil volunteers from the Sixth Form developing skills in leadership, emotional intelligence, team work and an understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities. For Mencap members, the programme provides their only chance of structured weekly exercise and the only opportunity they have to mix with their peers.

Other charities - Throughout the year students are able to participate in a variety of charitable fundraising activities. Although overseen by staff, the impetus, the imagination and the choice of charities lies with the pupils.
