Many congratulations to the musicians who played at Senior Prizegiving at the start of term. The evening started with a fine, dramatic interpretation by Daanyaal Razzaq of Rachmaninov's C# minor prelude on the piano. The musical interlude was performed by the Fuller Quartet and they gave a very moving rendition of the wonderful opening movement of Borodin’s 2nd Quartet. The musical finale was provided by Jonathan Goldsmith, a virtuosic and musical performance of Singelee’s Concertino which provided a very dramatic and fitting end to another evening of celebration at school.

Congratulations go to twenty musicians who took their Associated Board Music Examinations on the last day of the Autumn Term and once again produced some excellent results. This term’s Associated Board Music Examinations have been scheduled for the last two days of the Spring Term and I will report on these in the summer.

Students having instrumental lessons in school will receive their new instrumental timetables for the second half of term via their personal school gmail during the half term holiday. Please remind your son to check his school gmail for this timetable and he should let Mr Hussey know if this has not been received at the very start of term. We would suggest that students make a careful note of their weekly lesson times in their school planners so that they do not miss their lessons. Indeed, some lessons will commence on the first day back, so it is important that our musicians check their timetables very carefully upon receipt.

Looking towards the second half of term, we have the two Spring Concerts planned for Wednesday 22nd March and Thursday 23rd March and I will issue details about these events in due course via InTouch. Once again, I hope that many of you will be able to join us for these events.
