Old Fullerian Awarded British Empire Medal in King's Birthday Honours
Back
Congratulations to Old Fullerian Kabir Kaul, who has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King's Birthday Honours for services to nature.
The award recognises Kabir's environmental advocacy work since 2018 and his contribution to conservation through a range of charities, organisations and initiatives.
During his time at Watford Grammar School for Boys, Kabir founded the Wildlife Society, helping to raise awareness of environmental and conservation issues among fellow pupils.
From 2019 to 2025, he served on the RSPB Youth Council and was a member of the Mayor of London's Rewilding Taskforce between 2022 and 2023. He has also worked with numerous charities and conservation projects across the country.
In 2023, Kabir was appointed Special Adviser to Brent River Park, a regional park in west London. The appointment followed his leading role in campaigning to designate Warren Farm in Ealing as a protected nature reserve. The meadow is home to a quarter of London's skylark population.
During a gap year in 2023, he became a specialist volunteer with the RSPB's policy and advocacy team, contributing to work on nature policy at both local and national level.
Kabir has also been elected a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and the Linnean Society in recognition of his contribution to public life and conservation.
He is currently preparing to begin the final year of his Geography degree at the University of Birmingham.
We are delighted to see Kabir's achievements recognised in this way and congratulate him on this well-deserved honour. The entire school community is enormously proud of all he has accomplished and wishes him every success for the future.
